The advanced pre-insulated ducting technology of the Kingspan KoolDuct System was chosen for a new build project within the world famous Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow.

The landmark venue, situated on the banks of the River Clyde, is Scotland’s largest venue for public events and is used to stage conferences, exhibitions, concerts and public events.

The project was part of improvements made to SECC’s Hall 4 concert facilities which include a new dressing room block complete with production offices, green room and purpose-built crew catering kitchen and dining area.

Ducting specialists Brankin Engineering, who worked closely with M&E Consultants Hulley & Kirkwood, installed the lightweight but strong Kingspan KoolDuct System throughout the ceiling voids and riser ducts.

Bob Magee, of Brankin Engineering, said: “The fact that KoolDuct is pre-insulated and does not require additional lagging made it ideal for this installation where space was severely restricted, particularly around the riser ducts.”

Unlike traditional sheet metal ducting, which needs to be lagged with insulation as a second operation, the Kingspan KoolDuct System requires only a single fix installation, making it a high speed option for projects where time is critical.

The Kingspan KoolDuct system is a pre-insulated, high efficiency air duct system suitable for a variety of air distribution applications. It offers advantages over sheet metal ductwork, being lightweight, needing shorter installation time, having virtually no air leakage and offering high R-Values.
