Case Study: BBC Scotland

Location: Glasgow, UK

Building Use: Media

Project Type: New Build

Kingspan KoolDuct pre-insulated ducting has been installed in BBC Scotland’s new headquarters at Pacific Quay, Glasgow.

Situated on the south bank of the River Clyde, the five-storey purpose-built digital broadcast centre incorporates studios, offices and large public areas.

Ductform Ventilation UK, specified and installed Kingspan KoolDuct for the project. Roland Ferry, Operations Director for the company commented; “The Duct was an 8 metre x 3 metre extract plenum 50 metres long and by specifying KoolDuct we were able to achieve a modular site assembly, as the system was prefabricated into smaller more manageable sections and fitted together on site.

Having used the Kingspan KoolDuct system previously, we have found it to be an excellent alternative to traditional galvanised ductwork and is ideal for specifications where space or weight is restricted.”

The Kingspan KoolDuct system is a pre-insulated, high efficiency air duct system suitable for a variety of air distribution applications. It offers advantages over sheet metal ductwork, being lightweight, needing shorter installation time, having virtually no air leakage and offering high R-Values. This system is changing the HVAC industry. For more information on the complete Kingspan KoolDuct System, please contact us.
